Dining with Disney Characters
How better to make your families Disneyland experience unforgettable than to enjoy a meal with your favorite characters? This isn’t just sitting on a mall Santa’s lap during Christmas and snapping a photo. It’s a chance for your children’s favorite characters to jump off the big screen in a larger than life fashion. Blurring the lines between fantasy and reality in a manner only the Disney Imagineers and cast members can achieve. With an unrelenting approach to creating and maintaining, the most wonderful vision of Walt Disney himself. Every cast member is fully pledged to boldly embody the character they play with a dedication and knowledge that can leave even the most pragmatic adult smiling and feeling as though they’ve stepped into “a whole new world”.
There are options to dine and interact with the characters at both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, or any of the three Disney Hotels. Because of the popularity of these meals and the unique opportunity they offer it would be wise to book these meals in advance.
Disneyland theme park, Plaza Inn- Join Minnie & friends for breakfast in the park! With the largest assortment of characters, this Character Dining opportunity is a great option for your family to enjoy a wonderful breakfast buffet classic Disneyland park. A great way to start the day in the Magic Kingdom, just keep in mind this breakfast session ends at 11am, so you may want to show up as early as possible.
California Adventure Park, Ariel’s Grotto- Treat your princess to a princess entourage! At Ariel’s Disney Princess Celebration, you can be escorted up to Ariel for a greet and photo-op, then be visited by various other popular Disney Princesses while you enjoy breakfast or lunch overlooking the beautiful Paradise Pier. Dinner is still available, but no longer with princess accompaniment (above all, they value their beauty rest!).
Grand Californian Hotel, Storytellers Café- Enjoy the antics of Chip ‘N Dales Critter breakfast with a fun and interactive meal. Ever into mischief, these Rescue Rangers and friends will have you laughing, gasping, and thoroughly loving your meal all in one sitting.
Disneyland Hotel, Goofy’s Kitchen- This dog really knows how to get down in the kitchen for breakfast and dinner! With a highly unique (to some maybe downright goofy) menu and great atmosphere, Goofy’s Kitchen makes a great meal destination to dine with your favorite characters-especially for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.
Paradise Pier Hotel, PCH Grill- The only place you can find Mickey Mouse outside of the park, you can usually catch him in his super chill clothing ready for the beach after his Surf’s Up Breakfast with Mickey and Friends. This California surf themed dining experience will have you hanging ten with your favorite characters in an awesome environment.
Discover the Magic Tour- This is a very personal guided tour (for an extra cost) where you join Disney characters helping them foil the plot of dastardly villains, your also given lunch as well as a souvenir gift. Check out our guide to Disney tours here.
With any luck this character dining guide will help make your whole families experience as enchanted as the characters you dine with. Don’t forget that children under 9 can dress up like their favorite characters as well, making for unique photo-op moments that your kids will remember forever!
